More
In our over zealous modern day society we seek 'more' as a way of everyday living. 'More' has become not only a way of life but something that is viewed as down right deserved. We eat excessively, seek continuous entertainment through various mediums, and we tend to buy with extreme lack of reserve or self control. We even offset our excesses excessively with 24 hour gyms, 24 hour tech support and 24 hour Walmarts. Burger King is no longer the only place where you can have it your way. You can now successfully push yourself to excess around the clock without a single moment of denial. How does one made of 'but dust' conquer such delirious distraction? Boredom now only exists in nano-seconds, generally encountered while going from one electronic device to the other. We are raising a generation that craves instant gratification and excess to the point of delusion. Eye contact, spelling bees, good communication skills are rapidly becoming icons of the past. Why talk when you can simply text? Why learn to spell, or even correct spelling for that matter, when your computer will do it for you? Why meet in person when you can sit in your jammies and touch base on Facebook? Its all there, ALL of it, for the taking...so why not just take it? Many will. Some won't. "Be still and know that I Am God". Listen to the quiet voice which calls not out of the earthquake, wind or fire but out of the silence. How can we possibly hear His voice in the manufactured chaos we surround ourselves with? How can we draw near to Him when there is so much obstructing the way? How can we stand face to face with ourselves and sense the conviction of the Holy Spirit when our flesh is drunk with excessive overload? I believe John the Baptist said it best when he stated, "He must increase but I must decrease." John 3:30

Do Not Be Dismayed
I am so thankful for the Word of God. Thankful isn't strong enough... grateful, humbly indebted to the depths of my heart, in awe...In Love. "The Word became flesh and dwelt among us". The Word became flesh. Jesus Christ is the Word of God made flesh. Think about it. His precious Word is living and active. It breaths, it pierces, it divides, it judges the thoughts and actions of my heart. I want this living and active Word in me. If I can get it in me, It will do the work... It will separate my soul from spirit, my bone from marrow...It will judge my thoughts. God promises to complete the good work He has begun in us. What a promise and what a comfort. The day to day, minute by minute battles we are in are intense. Without the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, we are helpless, defenseless, prey waiting to be pounced on by a roaring lion. God give us the courage to allow our hearts to be pierced by Your Word. Give us the self control, which is a Fruit of the Spirit, to say no to the myriad of distractions in our lives that keep us from Your Word. Give us the discipline to trust Your Word, which is Truth, and to be set free by it. For when You set us free, we are free indeed. John 1:14, Hebrews 4:12, Philippians 1:6, Ephesians 6:17, 1Peter 5:8, Galatians 5:23, John 8:36. Now take up your Sword and fight.

Much From Little
It is amazing how much you can get from a little. One of the big contentions in my day to day life is my little kitchen. Yes, the galley kitchen. Considering the time frame in which my So. Cal home was built, early 50's, I assume it was built by a man. This man was mad at women. He wanted to get even...and he did. From my 'little' I have gained 'much' - much aggravation as I search for a plane of tile to quickly set down a very hot cookie sheet, much frustration as salad preparations end up on the floor due to over cramming the area where I can chop food, much dirt in every little nook and cranny, much tension if anyone should enter the tight quarters when someone else is already there and much amazement at just how many imposing piles one can stack when the ever-present dishes make it from the sink and out to dry on the counter! Often in my mind and, yes, at times out loud, I cry out against my little kitchen only to remember that it could be much harder...a camping stove out in the open, fighting yellow jackets and bugs! Then my little really is much - much better than it could be. "He that is good with little will be blessed with much."
