Breaking Records!

Seasons...To everything there is a season, the Lord tells us this in Ecclesiastes. I am thankful for the seasons. We have baseball season, football season, basketball season and now we are adding golf season. We stopped, only briefly one evening, and calculated how many ballgames we had been a part of in the past four days. Yes, we are breaking records this year...we counted 21 games in 4 days! The numbers jump with each day. I thank God for the gifts he has given us. I pray for the energy to enjoy them. I am looking forward to the change of the 'hot' summer season with great enthusiasm. It seems funny, but if you add the three lovely seasons of winter, spring and fall together I still believe the summer season is longer. Why is that? It makes me think of the furnace in which gold is refined...fiery hot. The heat is critical to the purifying of the gold. We too must be refined and those purifying fires can be very hot. Perhaps the long summers somewhat reflect the long journey of purification in our lives...just as the 'death' of winter turns to the 'new life' of spring and so beautifully mirrors the hope we have in Jesus, our risen Savior. The joy of the Lord is our strength and we must rest in Him alone, even in the 'hot' seasons. "Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say rejoice".
