"We also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. " Romans 5:3-4.
I find myself thinking of Peter stepping out of that boat on a cold, windy night to walk upon waves of faith to Jesus. Yes, he did walk on water...a miracle! Yes, Jesus Himself called Peter out of the boat to do the impossible. It took great faith for Peter to step into that water and trust Jesus completely. What an experience.
Here is what I see today. I see a black night with high winds and even higher waves. I feel the wet early morning chill reaching deep beneath my skin and causing me to shake. The rocking of the boat makes my stomach turn and I think I might be sick. The wonder of the unknown presses down on me. Where is Jesus? Why are we out here desperately rowing into this strong wind? Its been hours. Why? Frustration and fatigue battle within me. My eyes ache from straining to see the shore. Bewildering fear strikes at the sight of the unthinkable! No man can walk on water. I cannot believe what I see. I don't know what to do. I can't think.
I finally cry out. He answers, "Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid." At His very Word my heart grows calm. I feel courage within. I ask the unthinkable...may I walk upon the water to You? "Come," He says; and I do. As if carried, I walk upon the water to my Savior, experiencing victory over the harsh wind and unrelenting waves. Wind? Waves? My focus shifts. I plunge into the daunting waters of bleak doubt. "Lord save me!" I at last cry out. Immediately He stretches out His hand and takes hold of me and I am safe; completely safe. Such little faith. Why do I doubt? The Lord will never leave me. He will never forsake me no matter how the circumstances of life rage and threaten. "Perfect Love casts out fear." 1John4:18

I am blessed by your reminder. We need to step out of the boat and cry out, to Him who hold us upon the waters! Loves to you and prayer sent your way.
